#612 - Plans New episodes Monday, Wednesday and Friday

Friday, November 13, 2009
TODAY'S NEWS: Hey, I need your help! As you probably know, the names of the four Undead employees of Zorbletech (those that we've seen, anyway) are, from left to right: Brad, Biggles, Zombie and Adrian. Now, "Zombie" is an accurate if uncreative moniker, and since I seem unable to come up with anything better, I decided to have a Name The Zombie Contest!
Here's what you do: Think up the most perfect name for Zombie you can (okay, think of up to 5 names),and email them to the address shown above. Don't send more than five. They must arrive by 5:37 a.m. PST on November 25, 2009, so the Judging Minions can have the long holiday weekend to sift through all of the entries and pick the absolute best one. The name will be announced the following week.*The person who submits the Winning Name** will receive an autographed copy of my new book "Ask Dr. Eldritch! Volume #1, Are Aliens Eating My Crackers?" So start thinking up names, and picking your best five to enter!
* Official contest rules will be posted on the website soon. ** In the event of duplicates, the first person to send it, based on the order they're received.

#610 - Impractical Magic New episodes Monday, Wednesday and Friday

Monday, November 9, 2009
TODAY'S NEWS: It's also the only way I can explain more than one season of "Big Brother." Seriously, people, we need to stop watching. It only encourages them. (However, if these secret groups were any good at running things, I wouldn't object to encouragement.)

#609 - Calming Effect New episodes Monday, Wednesday and Friday

Friday, November 6, 2009
TODAY'S NEWS: This was posted midday on Friday, rather than early in the morning. Sorry for the delay, but I had to build two hammers for this episode, plus the regular shooting and assembly. I think the hammers came out pretty well, actually.

#607 - Greedy New episodes Monday, Wednesday and Friday

Monday, November 2, 2009
TODAY'S NEWS: Remember back in 2005 when they changed the dates for Daylight Saving Time, and they were promoting it as loaning you an hour in the Fall, which you got to use until Spring? I'm sure my Readers weren't fooled by this disingenuous description. We know that they're actually taking an hour from you each Spring, and keeping it as an interest-free loan until Autumn! We're supposed to be grateful for getting an "extra" hour, which was ours to begin with! Have you considered writing to your Congresspersons to complain?I can't believe I waited four years before doing some of my favorite jokes about Daylight Saving Time! The bit about Arizona not participating in Daylight Saving Time is true (and I can't prove the part about them selling hoarded daylight to Canada, but it wouldn't surprise me at all). I hope you spent your extra hour well!

Please Stand By

Monday, October 19, 2009
Dear Readers: Well, it finally happened. After just over 600 comics, I came to a scheduled day to post, and I have neither a comic ready nor even a finished script to assemble. The reason is simple; I've been in bed with the flu for four days.* As my Paleolithic ancestors would do when ill, I rose only for food/fluids going in or out, and to swap out DVDs.
The optimistic part of me wants to believe that I can still pull together a comic today, and stay on schedule, but I believe I'll err on the side of caution, and aim for resuming regular posting on Friday. I'm sorry for having another break in the comics so soon.
Don't make the mistakes I've made. If your friends are pressuring you to try "the Flu," just say "No." Stay healthy, Everyone...
*I don't know if this is H1N1 or one of the other strains making the rounds this flu seasons. I can say that this is one of the most exhausting illnesses I've ever had.

#602 - Guess The Lie New episodes Monday, Wednesday and Friday

Friday, October 16, 2009
TODAY'S NEWS: I sometimes worry about perpetrating myths about the Space Program, because I really don't want to encourage those people who can't tell fact from fiction. But nobody should be saying "I read it in a comic on the Internet, so it must be true!" Today's comic was up late because I came down with the flu Wednesday night. Fortunately, I had this comic in reserve, so I didn't have to try to assemble it with a fever (which might make the dialog more interesting in its randomness, but I somehow doubt it would be particularly coherent). With any luck, I'll be well in time to put together next week's comics.

#600 - Change of Seasons New episodes Monday, Wednesday and Friday

Monday, October 12, 2009
TODAY'S NEWS: I was going to write a longer script, but there is a cold rain arriving on Tuesday. So the expectation of another warm, sunny day here in the Pacific Northwest between now and Rose Festival...* let's just say that it's increasingly unlikely.
Did you noticed that this is Comic #600!?! We here at Ask Dr. Eldritch World Headquarters all decided to have a bit of a break to celebrate, and enjoy the last of the nice weather. There will be plenty of time for longer, more complex comics being assembled to the sound of steady rainfall...
*June, 2010.

#598 - Resolution New episodes Monday, Wednesday and Friday

Wednesday, October 7, 2009
TODAY'S NEWS: Thanks, everyone, who responded to Monday's Poll! The responses indicated that Black was the favored background color with white lettering (with the caveat that the purple letters should be lightened so they'd be visible). Option D was the preferred layout, with Option A coming in a close second. Readers were split on whether the image should fit within the frame or bleed to the edge. Many of you have seen moose or know the state capital of South Dakota. I was very pleased at the strong support for Bioluminescence, and that a few bravely admitted to not understanding question #5. And there was great enthusiasm for "Check! Check! Check!" Well, done, Everybody. Pat yourselves on the back!

#597 - Rod Skjorta Returns New episodes Monday, Wednesday and Friday

Monday, October 5, 2009
TODAY'S NEWS: It turns out that preparing a book for publication requires a plethora of decisions. Most have been easy enough, but I've kept going back and forth between different layouts for the cover, and thought that perhaps you, my Readers, might like to weigh in. So I created a poll, over at the Eldritch Realm Community. If you have a LiveJournal account, you can give your input by selecting the options and clicking 'Submit Poll.' (If you don't have a LiveJournal account, you can email me your thoughts.) (And FYI - the first question should say that Option B is 'Blue' and C is 'Green.' Once you post a Poll, LJ is fussy about letting you change it.) Thanks, Everyone!
